Surface Studio and Surface Pro get August 2018 firmware updates

Microsoft has made available two firmware updates, one for its Surface Studio and one for its Surface Pro, and here are the changes.

The all-in-one Surface Studio and the 2017 version of Surface Pro with LTE are getting new firmware updates as August 2018 is coming to an end.

In the release, Surface Studio is getting a massive firmware update to improve the stability and performance for many of its components, including graphics, sound, pen, networking, and more.

Here are all the new fixes and improvements in this new Surface Studio update:

  • Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio Adapter: 15.68.9125.57 improves system security.
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M and 980M: 24.21.13.9827 improves system stability.
  • Surface UEFI: 118.2311.769.0 Improves wake from sleep and speech recognition.
  • Microsoft LifeCam Front: 5.20.1034.2 improves system stability.
  • Surface Display: 1.0.25.0 improves system stability.
  • Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller: 15.68.9125.57 improves system security.
  • Surface Pen Settings: 23.607.139.0 improves Pen performance.
  • NVIDIA High Definition Audio: 1.3.37.4 improves system stability.
  • Realtek High Definition Audio (SST): 6.0.1.8242 improves Cortana Wake on Voice feature.
  • Realtek I2S Amp Device: 10.0.10586.17 improves system stability.
  • Detection Verification: 1.0.98.0 improves system stability and Cortana performance.
  • Intel Smart Sound Technology: 9.21.0.3347 improves system stability and Cortana performance.
  • Intel Smart Sound Technology: 9.21.0.3347 improves system stability and Cortana performance.
  • Surface Integration: 1.0.456.0 improves system stability.

If you have a Surface Pro with LTE, the August 2018 firmware update simply addresses a stability problem using e-SIM.

The update should download and install automatically, but if you have not received it on your Surface, then you can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and try to force the download manually.
