Surface 3 gets February 2016 firmware update with few improvements

Microsoft delivers a new Surface 3 firmware update to bring minor improvements to the tablet.

Microsoft has been rolling out a number of firmware updates for its Surface line, and today, February 5th, Surface 3 is getting a new firmware that improves battery charging and touch panel.

The update is labeled “System Firmware Update – 2/4/2016” and it’s available immediately through Windows Update. You can check below exactly what’s new in the February 2016 update for Surface 3.

What’s new in the Surface 3 February 2016 firmware update

  • Surface UEFI update (v1.51116.78.0) recalibrates touch panel.
  • Surface Touch Controller Firmware update (v4.251.60.0) recalibrates touch panel.
  • Surface Platform Power Driver update (v2.1.36.1) improves charging.

As always, Surface 3 will receive and install the new firmware automatically, but you can force the update by going to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and tapping the Check for updates button.
