Windows 10 build 18252 (19H1) releases with new features

In the latest preview for Windows 10 version 1903 (build 18252), Microsoft introduces new settings and improvements — Here's all you need to know.

As part of the 19H1 development, Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 10 build 18252 for PCs enrolled in the Fast ring and in the Skip Ahead lane. This is the eighth preview rolling out for version 1903 expected to arrive sometime in April 2019, and it’s the first preview available in the Fast ring.

Windows 10 build 18252, according to the company, introduces new changes in the Settings app to configure advanced TCP/IP settings, and when your device is not connected to the internet, the taskbar will show a new disconnected icon. This flight also adds support for Ebrima font with ADLaM support, and a number of other fixes and improvements.

Here are the changes and improvements expected to arrive with version 1903 in April 2019:

Ethernet settings

Starting with Windows 10 build 18252, on Settings > Network & Internet > Ethernet, and accessing the settings page for the Ethernet adapter, you’ll now be able to configure the static IP address and DNS server preferences. (Although this is new to Windows 10 version 1903, you’ve been able to configure these settings for wireless adapters for a long time.)

In addition, the corresponding Ethernet adapter name will now be listed in the sidebar under the “Ethernet” header so you can easily differentiate Ethernet entries at a glance if there’s more than one.

Taskbar

In addition, Windows 10 is also including a new “disconnected” icon when there’s not an internet connection on your device. This icon will appear when no connection to the internet is detected for Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Cellular adapters.

Language

This preview also introduces the Windows Ebrima font to read your ADLaM documents and websites.

According to Microsoft: “ADLaM is enabling literacy and growing in use for commerce, education, and publishing across western Africa. It was added to Unicode in Unicode 9.0. The Ebrima font also supports other African writings systems N’ko, Tifinagh, Vai and Osmanya.”

Additional changes

Alongside the new features and improvements, Windows 10 build 18252 includes some smaller changes, including new microphone icon in the system tray which appears when your microphone is in use.

In the Registry, when pressing F4, you’ll see a caret at the end of the address bar, expanding the autocomplete dropdown.
