Windows 10 build 10056: You can now unlock achievements

Windows 10 desktop

We’ve seen a big number of improvements coming to Windows 10 since the first public release, but a recent leaked of the operating system now unveils that achievements will be part of the operating system as well.

The new achievements feature has been spotted in Windows 10 build 10056, and it appears that users will unlock their first achievement by simply launching the Insider Hub app, as you can see in the image below.

Windows 10 Achievements

Just like playing games on Xbox One, it seems that Microsoft will be using achievements to incentive users to get more involve with Windows 10. It works for games, so Microsoft may be thinking it should work on desktop too and it should help the company to get even more telemetry data to make the operating system better.

While we see these new achievements are directly related to how achievements work in Xbox One, it’s unclear if these new achievements will tie to your gamerscore in your Xbox profile. In addition, it is not clear if the new features will only be for Windows Insider members only or for everyone once Microsoft releases its new operating system to the public later this summer.
