On November 5th, Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 build 10586 to the Fast ring of updates for PCs. The build doesn’t include significant changes or features. Instead, the company is concentrated on fixing bugs and “general improvements.” But of course, this new version should be a lot more stable than Windows 10 build 10576, which Redmond made available about a week ago.
Improvements include making sure apps and games from the Store install smoothly, Microsoft Edge displays Tab previews properly, fixing what happens when pressing the power button on Surface Pro 3, and more.
Below, you will find a list of all the new fixes in this new build.
Windows 10 build 10586 bug fixes
- Apps and games should be downloaded from the Store more reliably.
- Pressing the power button on your Surface Pro 3 should put your Surface Pro 3 to sleep instead of shutting it down.
- Microsoft fixed an issue reported by Windows Insiders where a disksnapshot.exe command prompt window would flash randomly.
- The issue where any audio playing (like music from Groove or videos from the Movies & TV app) gets reduced by 75% for a period of time after a notification pops up from the Action Center is fixed.
- Windows should now remember your previous login type. For example, if you log in with a PIN – it will prompt you for a PIN next time instead of another type.
- The company fixed an issue where Tab previews in Microsoft Edge were appearing as black if the page was not scrolled to the top, and web note clippings were also appearing as black.
- Small form-factor devices, like the Dell Venue 8 Pro, that boot with rotation or virtual mode screen size set larger than the physical screen size should no longer experience a blue screen on upgrade.
According to Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul, build 10586 is “very fast and smooth and makes a great daily driver.” However, the announcement does not mention anything about this release being the final version users will get as part of the Windows 10 Fall Update (Threshold 2), which is something to keep in mind, as previous information suggested, the company is close to release the “Fall Update” to everyone, which it could happen as soon as November 12th.
As always, the new build will download automatically to all Insiders who are part of the Fast Ring of updates, but you can go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update to manually download Windows 10 build 10596 on your PC.
