Windows 10 build 14388 releases for PC and Mobile with fixes and battery life improvements

Latest test version of Windows 10 (build 14388) fixes a lot of issues and improves battery life on mobile devices.

Microsoft is rolling out yet another test version of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. This time the company is releasing Windows 10 build 14388, and the update is available for PC and Mobile devices through the Fast ring.

Windows 10 build 14388 doesn’t include new features, but it includes a slew of fixes to improve reliability and accessibility, and the update also improves battery life on mobile devices.

What’s new for Windows 10 for PC

In this release, Microsoft is updating the Store with a lot of bug fixes. The new update address various issues with Narrator, and build 14388 fixes TPM driver issues that could cause blue screen of death and rebooting.

As for known issues, there is still a problem with Hyper-V firmware that will affect the ability to boot Windows Server 2016 Tech Preview 5 VMs in certain scenarios. Also, users installing build 14388 using non-English language may see the error code 0x80004005 when enabling Developer Mode on the “For Developers” settings page.

What’s new for Windows 10 Mobile

On mobile, the software giant is also updating the Store to fix a number of bugs. There is a fix for keyboard not showing up consistently for InPrivate mode on Microsoft Edge. And the update also addresses a problem with the app not being able to launch until rebooting the device.

Known issues for Windows 10 Mobile build 14388 include, problems with Voice Recorder option not working correctly for Call Recording. Users may get locked out of their phones entering the PIN twice using Wallet.

Microsoft is testing a new backup format for mobile devices that reduces the size stored on OneDrive. If you do a backup with the latest update, and back to the production release, then the Start layout won’t be preserved.

Windows 10 build 14388 for PC and Mobile is available immediately through the Fast ring. The new preview download and install automatically, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button.

Update, July 15, 2016: With the release of Windows 10 build 14390, Microsoft is also making available Windows 10 build 14388 available in the Slow ring.
