Microsoft release Windows 10 build 16193 for PCs enrolled in the Fast ring. The new release part of “Fall Creators Update” (formerly known as Redstone 3), and it includes a number of new features and improvements over the previous test preview.

Windows 10 build 16193, according to the software giant, introduces a new app called Story Remix, which is the new evolution of the Photo apps that makes it a lot easier to create videos from photos and videos. This new flight is also adding individual volume controls for Windows Store apps, and there is a new update for Power Throttling that changes the column name on the Task Manager to Power Throttling from “Background Moderated.”

In addition, this flight includes a number of fixes and known issues that you should be aware of before installing.

What’s new on the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (build 16193)

Story Remix

Story Remix is a new experience part of the Photos app coming to Windows 10 that is similar to Windows Movie Maker, which Microsoft describe as an evolution of the Photos app that makes easier to create videos from photos and other videos.

In this flight, you get an early preview with the following features:

  • Video: Story Remix finds collections of content that are most relevant to you and automatically creates video stories with soundtrack, theme, and transitions. You can keep the suggested videos, delete, or edit them to your liking.
  • Search: Story Remix uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to automatically tag your content, which then are easily searchable.
  • Interface: Story Remix includes new Fluent Design (Project Neon) elements, such as connected animations, conscious scrollbars, and acrylic.
  • Discovery: This feature gives you quick access to delight and common tasks, making it easy to create a new story, see stories we’ve created for you, and discover your past memories of people, places, and things.
  • Share: You can also upload your video quickly to YouTube and Facebook, or share them easily via email or OneDrive.

Power Throttling

Starting with build 16193, the Task Manager renames “Background Moderated” to “Power Throttling”.

Volume controls for Store apps

In this preview, Windows 10 updates the Volume Mixer to include volume controls for Windows Store apps, such as Groove and Microsoft Edge. This new feature allows you to control volume without impacting the system volume.

What’s new on Windows 10 Mobile build 15213

Microsoft is also releasing Windows 10 Mobile build 15213 part of the Creators Update, but there are not new features, just a bunch of fixes and a literally a couple of known issues.

Windows 10 build 16193 for PC is available immediately through the Fast ring. It’ll download and install automatically on your device, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button.

Update May 12 2017: Microsoft has also made available the ISO files to a clean install of the latest preview of Windows 10.
