Microsoft Windows 10 (consumer) event confirmed for January 21

Confirmed, Microsoft will be holding a special press event to talk about the Windows 10 progress in Redmond, WA on January 21. Today, December 11, the software titan began emailing invites to members of press to attend the event.

The invite reads “Windows 10: The next chapter” and during the event the company is expected to talk about the features of Windows focus on consumers, and the word is that it’ll be an all-day-long event.

For those Microsoft fans, the company will stream the event live and speakers will include Satya Nadella, Joe Belfiore, Terry Myerson, and Phil Spencer. Big Microsoft names have been mentioned, so this is going to be a big event and expect many things to be revealed.

We’re also expecting for Microsoft to announce the release of next build of Windows 10 for Windows Insiders, which if you’ve been following my coverage, you already know that it won’t be called “Windows 10 Consumer Preview”, instead the company will use “January Technical Preview” and each month there will be a new build release.

There is no much specifics about the event other than we’re hoping to see new features such as Continuum and probably Cortana running on Windows 10. And we’re expecting the company to talk about Windows 10 mobile, which is a new version of the operating system that combines Windows RT with Windows Phone into a single SKU that will run on phone and tablets running ARM and Intel processors. Microsoft may also talk about a new Xbox One dashboard update.
