Microsoft is set to pull the plug on Windows 7 on January 14, 2020, which means no more security and improvement updates for home users. However, after the end of life of Windows 7, businesses that enroll in the Extended Security Updates (ESUs) program and commit to upgrade in the next three years to Windows 10 will continue to receive updates (for a price).

Now, newly available support documentation (via ComputerWorld and Neowin) unveils a promotion that allows businesses to continue receiving updates post the 2020 end of life for free for an additional year.

The offer is straightforward, if you’re running an organization with an active Windows 10 Enterprise E5, Microsoft 365 E5, or Microsoft 365 E5 Security subscription, you are entitled to receive Windows 7 security updates for another year.

If you’re running an organization with an active qualifying subscription, you don’t need to do anything else other than keep the subscription active to continue receiving updates after January 14.
