Hello moeburn,

Eventually it will, but if you had a copy of Windows 8 that you purchased, you may need to restart your PC one more time for the watermark to go away. If that doesn’t fix it, try going to “System” and see if your copy of Windows 8.1 needs to be activated and restart again.
