If you miss the good old days of Windows 95, Slack developer, Felix Rieseberg built an app to run the ancient operating system on Windows 10, Linux, and macOS to relive the experience.
The Windows 95 app is a 128MB download from GitHub, and it allows you use the operating system and its popular programs, including WordPad, Microsoft Paint, Solitaire, Minesweeper, and just play around with the settings.
To get it running is straightforward, just download and double-click the executable.
The operating system runs on a virtualized environment using electron, which is a framework to create applications that work across devices using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
The virtual machine runs surprisingly well, but a bit slow, and the apps like MS-DOS and Internet Explorer have a hard time running.
If you come across any problems running the app, you can always press the Esc key to get the mouse out, and use the app options to reset the app.
