This week on tech, Microsoft’s Xbox Live and Sony’s PlayStation Network get attacked by hacker group Lizard Squad causing service outage mainly on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Sony released the controversial film “The Interview” on selected movie theaters, on its website, Xbox Video and Google Play… And curiously the movie wasn’t available for rent or buy on the PlayStation Network.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection received a big update improving matchmaking, achievements, and more. Free games with Xbox Gold for January were announced. Activision announces free upgrade for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on Xbox 360 to Xbox One. For those on Xbox One, this week you learned how to customize the console for the holidays too.

The Microsoft Store continues with big technology product sales and this week the company is running the Year-End Sale offering up to 40% discount on Surface, Xbox One, PCs, and many other products.

The software giant brings Skype to Office Online, releases preparation tool for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to install Windows 10 January Technical Preview update, and makes available Surface recovery image for Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 2, Surface Pro, Surface 2 and Surface RT. All this and more…
