I wonder too about the DVR thing. I would imagine that you would have to have a pretty beefy HD for that to be feasible. I also wonder if there are some legal obstacles. I would imagine Microsoft has to be careful not to upset the cable providers by going over their head on these kinds of things. I’m not really sure how much that would factor in

You mean both, I also cut my cable subscription a few years ago and now I rely on Netflix, Hulu, and others. I wonder if Microsoft will, one day, enable DVR for those with an external hard drive, of course.
