Microsoft makes available Windows 10 build 10576 for PCs to the Fast ring of updates. The new build includes a number of improvements and changes over build 10565, which the company released a few weeks back. The company also points out that build 10576 also includes a great number of bug fixes that should bring the update close to completion, as we already know the company plans to roll out the “Windows 10 Fall Update” (Threshold 2) in early November.
According to Microsoft, the major changes are happening on Microsoft Edge. In Windows 10 build 10576 for PCs, the software giant is finally enabling “Cast media to device”, which enables users to play content from the web browser to any Miracast or DLNA enabled device over the local network.
At this moment, you can try casting YouTube videos, Facebook photo albums, and music from Pandora. All you have to do is browse any of these content providers and click on the “…” menu from the top-right side of the app, and select “Cast media to device”. However, you can’t cast protected content from services such as Netflix and Hulu.
Cortana on Microsoft Edge gets a new feature. In build 10576, “Ask Cortana” can look and find content on PDF file and you can highlight text while reading.
Here are some of the new fixes found in Windows 10 build 10576:
- Microsoft fixed the issue where the Xbox app for Windows 10 would consume gigabytes of memory on your PC if you have any Win32 games (non -Windows Store games) installed on your PC that have been identified as games or added by you in the Xbox app.
- There are also improvements for performance on nested virtualization, so that people could run Hyper-V Containers in Hyper-V virtual machines.
- The company has been addressing a lot of feedback around localization text UI in various languages and you’ll see a lot of that work in this build.
- The search box should now work in this build if you are in a locale where Cortana is not available.
Windows 10 build 10576 is yet another preview and includes the majority of the changes Microsoft is planning to roll out as part of Windows 10 Fall Update next month. Although, the company hasn’t publicly announced the release date of update, we know for sure it will happen sometime in November.
