How to check if Windows 11 25H2 is installed on your PC

Does your PC has the next version of Windows 11 already installed? Here are two ways to find out.

  • To check if Windows 11 25H2 is installed on your computer, use the “Windows key + R” keyboard shortcut, enter the “winver” command, click “OK,” and confirm the version number is equal to or greater than 26200.5074.
  • Another way is to open Settings > System > About and confirm whether version 25H2 is installed in the “Windows Specifications” section.

On Windows 11, you can confirm whether version 25H2 is installed using at least two built-in tools, and in this guide, I’ll show you the steps to complete this process. While Microsoft sometimes displays a welcome screen after an upgrade, highlighting new features, it is not always the case, and it never displays the actual version number. Instead, it provides a brief overview of changes.

For example, in 2025, the feature update is known as version 25H2 (also referred to as the Windows 11 2025 Update), which reflects the year (25) and part of the year (H2 or half two) that indicates when the company plans to roll it out.

To confirm that Windows 11 25H2 is installed on your computer, you can use the “winver” command or access the “About” settings page.

In this guide, I outline the steps to verify if Windows 11 25H2 is already installed on your laptop or desktop computer.

Check if Windows 11 25H2 is installed from Winver

To check whether your computer has Windows 11 25H2 installed, follow these steps:

  1. Open Start on Windows 11.

  2. Search for winver and press Enter.

    winver check version 25H2

Quick tip: Use the “Windows key + R” keyboard shortcut, type the winver command, and click the “OK” button.
  3. Confirm if the “About Windows” dialog reads “Version 25H2” and “OS Build 26200.5074.”

If the dialog shows “Version 25H2” along with “OS Build 26200.5074” or a higher build number, then the Windows 11 2025 Update is installed.

Check if Windows 11 25H2 is installed from Settings

To confirm you have Windows 11 25H2 installed from the Settings app, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Click on System.

  3. Click the About page on the right side.

  4. Check under the “Windows specifications” section and confirm that the “Version” is set to “25H2.”

Settings About check version 25H2 installed

If the “About” page shows the “25H2” number and the build number is equal to or higher than “26100.1742,” you are running the next version of the operating system.

It’s important to note that Windows 11 25H2 is expected to start rolling out sometime in September or October 2025.

The feature update will be available as an optional installation, meaning it won’t install automatically unless you trigger the installation manually or the current version installed on the device is nearing the end of its support.

Aside from the version number and some small changes, there’s no difference between version 25H2 and 24H2, as both operating systems share the same file system.
