  • The Windows 11 October 2025 Update (KB5065789) is rolling out for version 24H2 on October 14, 2025, with new features and security fixes.
  • Since Microsoft enables changes gradually, you can manually unlock the new features by installing the update and running the ViVeTool command vivetool /enable /id:57048226 in Command Prompt (admin).

The Windows 11 October 2025 Security Update for version 24H2 is rolling out on October 14, 2025, and you can manually force-enable most of the upcoming new changes. In this guide, I’ll show you how to complete this task.

Microsoft plans to release the October 2025 Security Update as build 26100.6725 (KB5065789), which includes new features and security fixes. However, since Microsoft rolls out features gradually, not everyone gets them immediately. If you want early access, you can use the ViveTool (via @PhantomOfEarth) command-line utility to unlock the new features on your device.

The update KB5065789 is also available for Windows 11 25H2, as build 26200.6725, with all the same changes. This means that this command should also work in the new version of the operating system.

In this guide, I’ll outline the steps to enable (most) of the improvements introduced with the October 2025 Security Update for Windows 11.

Enable new October 2025 features on Windows 11

To enable all the new features and changes for the Windows 11 update KB5065789, follow these steps:

  1. Open the GitHub website.

  2. Download the ViveTool-vx.x.x.zip file to enable all the new features for October 2025.

  3. Double-click the zip folder to open it with File Explorer.

  4. Click the Extract all button.

    Extract ViveTool zip file

  5. Click the Extract button.

  6. Copy the path to the folder.

  7. Open Start.

  8. Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.

  9. Type the following command to navigate to the ViveTool folder and press Enter:

    cd c:\folder\path\ViveTool-v0.x.x

In the command, remember to change the path to the folder with your path.

  10. Type the following command to enable all the new features and press Enter:

    vivetool /enable /id:57048226
  11. Restart the computer.

Once you complete the steps, the command should enable the biggest features and changes introduced with build 26100.6725 for Windows 11 24H2.

If you want to undo the changes, you can follow the same instructions outlined above, but in step 10, run the vivetool /disable /id:57048226 command. You can also run the vivetool /fullreset command to reset any customization you may have enabled using this tool.

  2. Click on Windows Update.

  3. (Optional) Check the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle switch.

  4. Click the “Check for updates” button.

Windows 11 check and install updates

  5. (Optional) Click the “Download and install” option to apply a preview of an upcoming update of Windows 11.

  6. Click the Restart now button.

Once you complete the steps, if an update is available, it will download and install automatically on Windows 11.

If you’re trying to enable the features before the update is available through the Stable Channel, then you’ll have to enroll your device in the Release Preview Channel. However, you can always wait a little longer to download the update directly from the Stable Channel, even when the update is in preview. Typically, this occurs at the beginning of the month, when the Patch Tuesday update is scheduled for release.

FAQs about the Windows 11 October 2025 Update

If you still have questions about the October 2025 update for Windows 11, the following FAQs will help clarify what’s new and how to enable the latest features.

What’s the ViveTool command to enable the October 2025 features for Windows 11?

To enable the new feature with the ViveTool, you have to run the vivetool /enable /id:57048226 command.

Will I enable all of the features by running the ViveTool command?

No, since some features are not available to everyone (even after running the ViveTool commands), and others are limited to specific regions.

Why do I need to run the ViveTool command to enable the new features?

You don’t have to use the ViveTool, but some people want to access the improvements as soon as possible.

The problem is that Microsoft rolls out new features gradually, even after they’re officially available. The idea is that if something breaks, the company can quickly stop the problem from spreading to more devices.

What features and changes are available with the October 2025 update for Windows 11?

As part of this Patch Tuesday Update, Microsoft is rolling out several features and improvements. For example, Click to Do is expected to have tags for actions and better text summarization with AI. The Settings app will enhance its AI agent UI, there’s a new setting to adjust the position of hardware indicators, and Microsoft will finally release the new Advanced settings page.

File Explorer brings AI actions to the context menu, and the Windows Share UI gets a new option to pin your favorite apps. The passkey’s security feature now integrates with third-party solutions and more.

In addition, this update resolves several bugs and introduces a number of changes.
