Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 26300.7877 as the update KB5077232 for version 25H2 through the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program. This preview introduces one new feature, fixes, and some improvements.
In addition, the company is rolling out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7872 (KB5077231) in the Beta Channel, with most of the same features as those available in the Dev Channel.
According to the company, the “Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (26300.7877)” introduces updates to the context menu so that when right-clicking specific files, the “Open” entry will also display the icon of the app associated with the file.
It also tweaks the “Device info” card in the Settings app, and brings back the top cards with hardware specification cards on the “About” page. This update also improves the Taskbar, File Explorer, and Nearby Sharing.
Although this article lists the changes for version 26H2, Windows 11 still shows 25H2 as the version number, but the version number will eventually change to 26H2.
What’s new on Windows 11 build 26300.7877
These are the new features and improvements rolling out in the Dev Channel:
Context menu UI update
Starting with build 26300.7877, Microsoft is updating the context menu so that when you right-click a specific file (such as “.exe,” “.bat,” or “.cmd”), the “Open” entry will also display the app icon associated with the file.

Device info card tweaks
On the Home page for the Settings app, the “Device info” card has now been refined to make it easier to understand. For instance, memory and processor are easier to read.

About page changes
Starting with the release, Microsoft is rolling back the top cards to show key hardware specifications on the About page.
Also, the “Device info” section shows more hardware details, including graphics card and storage, in addition to processor, memory, system type, and more.
Other changes
As part of the KB5077232 update, this update includes smaller changes that improve animation when hovering over app groups in the Taskbar. In addition, the System Tray icons will now appear more reliably when the auto-hide feature is enabled.
For File Explorer, this update fixes the issue where open windows and tabs might unexpectedly jump to Desktop or Home.
If you use Nearby Sharing, Microsoft is improving the feature when sending larger files.
It’s worth noting that although the Dev and Beta Channels are nearly identical, the official Beta Channel announcement does not mention the fixes for File Explorer or Nearby Sharing as part of this release.
