Ahead of the final release of Windows 8.1, Microsoft releases a new updated version of its Xbox Video app. The most noticeable change that the software maker is adding is a new refined user interface. The new streamlined UI brings bigger tiles and a new dark background that matches with the recent update of the Xbox Music app.
Although, the new update for Xbox Video looks different, in a positive way, still this is not a huge update. Besides the new homepage design, the app continues to keep focus on Microsoft’s online content (movies and TV shows), instead of content stored in your PC, now there is only one ad at the end of page, and interacting with movies and TV shows still works the same way without any changes.
The Windows Store also notes new improvements, such as: better collection management, performance improvements, and now when you buy a TV series, the app will show your progress in a given episode and highlight the next episode to watch.
The new Xbox Video app update is available now for Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 Preview, but it appears that Microsoft is holding off the release for Windows 8.0.
