Microsoft’s Windows XP free anti-malware software has one more year to live

While Microsoft pushes forward to end Windows XP support on April 8th, 2014, the company just announced that Security Essentials, the free anti-malware solution version for XP will be kept alive until July 2015.

According to the Microsoft’s Malware Protection Center website “To help organizations complete their migrations, Microsoft will continue to provide updates to our antimalware signatures and engine for Windows XP users through July 14, 2015.”

Although the software giant is eager for companies and consumers to upgrade to the latest Windows 8.1, Windows XP has been so successful that in order to keep everyone happy and continue to squeeze every drop of revenue, the company will try to keep outdated computers free of malware for one more year. Though, Microsoft continues the support of security software, this doesn’t means Windows XP will get any kind of support after April 8th, 2014.
