A new build (8.15.12521) of Windows 10 for phones has leaked onto the web, revealing a few new changes Microsoft is making to the operating system for small screens. In the screenshots that has appeared on the internet show a much improved and polished UI, new icons in the status bar, and updated notification.
The screenshots were published in Windows Mania, which is a Polish forum dedicated to Windows. The images suggest that in the near future apps will have the ability to use vibration, sound, banner, and LED to alert users of a new notification.
The leaked version of Windows 10 for phones also includes a more streamlined user interface that brings closer together the desktop and mobile version of the operating system. This should not come to a surprise as Microsoft is building a single core of Windows 10 that runs on phones, tablets, and PCs.
The updated UI has an improved context menu, new toggle menus, and the company is also adding the new circular element for the picture profile instead of the square version, which is identical to what Windows 10 offers. Furthermore, the status bar now adds new icons that are similar to the ones found in the Windows 10 desktop.
Another change found in build 8.15.12521 is that Microsoft is planning to let Windows 10 for phones users to remove the primary Microsoft Account without having to reset the phone. Something that required Windows Phone 8 to reset the phone to factory, if they wanted to change the account on the handset.
The leaked screenshots also show a little more in detail the new messaging and people apps, which are apps that haven’t made it to the public preview.
