How to restore the Menu Bar in Firefox 4

If you’ve been using Mozilla Firefox for a long time, there is a good chance that you might have already tried Firefox 4 Beta, and in this new version of one of the most popular Web browsers there are tons of new features and user interface changes that makes it easier and more productive to surf the internet. However all these new changes in Firefox 4, as great and exciting as they are, some of them may not be for everyone. For example, you will notice that the Menu Bar is now missing, but it didn’t go away, is just simply hidden by default. This approach is good to gain more view-able real state in the screen, but for a lot of users that are used to operate Firefox in a certain way, they may find this a little bit confusing. So in this article I am going to show you how to restore the Menu Bar back in Firefox 4.

Now, there are two really easy ways to restore the Menu Bar in Firefox 4:

  • The first one is the easiest, just simply press the Alt key in your keyboard and you will temporarily bring back the old good Menu Bar (see last portion of the above image), and pressing Alt key one more time it will hide it again.
  • And the second method is to permanently bring back Firefox 4 Menu Bar and it is just as easy as clicking in the new orange Firefox button,  select Options, and then click on the Menu Bar option, that’s it!

There is also the possibility to that file storing the toolbar information can become unusable or corrupt and you won’t be able to view the Menu Bar, in this case you can close and re-start Firefox in safe mode and select the Reset toolbars and controls options and Make Changes and Restart.

Firefox Safe Mode Options

Note to start Firefox in safe mode just click Start , All Programs, navigate to the Mozilla Firefox folder, and then select Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode), or the other way is to start the Windows run command and type firefox -safe-mode and hit Enter.
