On January 12, 2016, Microsoft finally ends support for older versions of Internet Explorer. Keeping focus on the new default web browser for Windows 10, Microsoft Edge, the software giant is now ending support for Internet Explorer 10, 9, 8.
Moving forward Internet Explorer 11, which is the last version of the web browser, will be the only version to continue receiving security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support in Windows 10, Windows 8.x, and Windows 7.
All this means after January 12, 2016, Microsoft will no longer provide any kind of updates or support for Internet Explorer 8, 9, or 10, leaving the web browser vulnerable to exploits from malware, malicious attacks, and compatibility issues.
As such, it’s very important that if you’re running an older version of Internet Explorer to upgrade to version 11 as soon as possible. Microsoft is also offering a free upgrade to Windows 10 for those customers running a genuine copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, which includes Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer 11 for backwards compatibility.
According to Microsoft, Internet Explorer 11 will be supported for the life of Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7. Here are a few more reasons why to upgrade to the latest version of web browser.
