  • Microsoft is building a new “PC Manager” app for Windows 11.
  • The app offers recommendations to boost system performance and security.
  • The app is in a public preview, and anyone can download it.

Microsoft appears to be developing a new “PC Manager” app for Windows 11. A public preview of the app is already available on a Microsoft website in China, and it includes recommendations and tools to help you optimize and keep your computer running smoothly.

A few screenshots of the new PC Manager app surfaced online (via @ALumia_Italia), offering an early look at the interface and features.

The design is similar to the Microsoft Defender app for Windows 11 and mobile devices, suggesting PC Manager will be another app included with a Microsoft 365 subscription.

The app’s main page displays your computer’s memory usage and temporary files, and includes a “Boost” button.

The app has two sections, including Cleanup and Security. The Cleanup page shows the storage optimizations you can perform to boost system performance, such as removing unnecessary files, disabling processes, and managing apps that run at startup.

The Security page includes several suggestions to keep your computer secure, including a recommendation to switch your default browser to Microsoft Edge. In addition, the page suggests scanning your computer with Microsoft Defender Antivirus, downloading updates from Windows Update, and more.

The app is basic and highlights features already found on Windows 11. Although advanced users may not get many benefits from this app, it should help home users optimize their systems and keep them secure.

At your own risk, you may be able to download the PC Manager app from this Microsoft website.
