Windows 11 update KB5032283 brings new features to Beta Channel

Windows 11 receives a new update in the Beta Channel.
This flight brings new Narrator features, improves file sharing, and brings Copilot to the Alt + Tab UI.
The update KB5032283 also rolls out various fixes and improvements.

Microsoft is now rolling out the update KB5032283 for Windows 11 in the Windows Insider Program Beta Channel. Although this is a small update, it includes new features and various improvements.

The update KB5032283 bumps the build number to 22635.2771, and according to the official changes, the release brings previews for natural views before installation, changes the file-sharing experience, adds Copilot to the Alt + Tab interface, and various fixes and improvements.

Windows Narrator voice preivews

Windows 11 build 22635.2771 introduces previews for natural voices for Windows Narrator in Chinese, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), Japanese, English (UK), French, Portuguese, English (India), German, and Korean. The new feature allows users to listen to the voices before downloading it on the device.

Also, Windows 11 build 22635.2771 ships changes for the image consumption experience for the Windows Narrator feature, including new keyboard commands for navigating images, such as “G” or “Shift + G” to navigate forward or backward between images in Scan mode (Narrator key + spacebar). Also, this update improves the detection of text on images.

Furthermore, the Windows Narrator will now announce the presence of a draft comment, a resolved comment, a bookmark, or the availability of accessibility suggestions when reading text in a Microsoft Word document.

Sharing files improvements

Microsoft also notes that it’s significantly improving the transfer speeds when sharing files on the same network, and you can now share files regardless of the network profile. In the past, you had to choose the private network profile to send files, but with this update, you only have to be on the same network, and the profile can be either public or private.

In addition, you can turn on Nearby Share through the Quick Settings flyout. The feature will also enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth if they are turned off to ensure the sharing feature works as expected. As part of the Share experience, the interface will now only show apps you’ve signed in with the Microsoft Account or Microsoft Entra ID instead of all the compatible apps. Also, when using a Microsoft Entra ID, your Microsoft Teams contact will appear in the Share interface.

Copilot in Alt + Tab

Starting with build 22635.2771, it’s now possible to use Copilot with the “Alt + Tab” keyboard shortcut. This means that the “Alt + Tab” experience will display a thumbnail preview for Copilot alongside the other thumbnails, which you can switch between by pressing the “Tab” key.

Snipping Tool update

The company also notes that this update brings an updated version of the Snipping Tool with improvements for HDR display support. Screenshots and screen recording on displays with HDR enabled should be able to display colors better.

Windows Narrator

Fixed an issue where Narrator was not correctly announcing the selected item in combo boxes when users try to change the combo box value using key combination Control + up or down arrow.

Fixed an issue where Narrator was announcing old dialog names even after users navigate to new dialog on few web pages.

Fixed an issue where Narrator was not reading Role of a control in tables on the web while using table navigation commands CTRL + ALT + Arrow keys.

Fixed an issue in Microsoft Excel where Narrator was not consistently reading any item in the auto-complete list that comes when writing a formula.

Addressed an issue where Narrator was not announcing the selected state of menu items in few applications such as device manager.

Fixed an issue where Narrator was announcing both the unselected value and the newly selected value in elements such as date fields or any elements that are formatted as tables.

Magnifier

Fixed an issue on the Magnifier settings page where the text below the “voice speed” slider was not following the color contrast guidelines.

Settings

Fixed an issue where Home was unexpectedly showing some users that there was NaN% storage left.

Windows Share

Fixed an issue that was causing the share window to crash in the last couple of builds.

Other fixes

Fixed the issue that was causing Snipping Tool to crash when taking a capture on ARM devices.

Addressed an issue that stops File Explorer from opening.

Fixed an issue where Settings Home might show a prompt to sign into your Microsoft account, and fail to sign in if you tried to use it, even though Settings itself showed you were already signed in.

Install build 22635.2771

If you want to download and install the Windows 11 build 22635.2771, enroll your device in the Beta Channel using the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Windows Update” section.
