Windows 10 gets February update (KB5034763)

Microsoft rolls out the second Patch Tuesday update of the year for with various fixes and improvements for Windows 10.

  • The February 2024 Patch Tuesday Update (KB5034763) was released for Windows 10 22H2 and 21H2 as build 19045.4046 and 19044.4046.
  • The update rolls out compliance changes for the Digital Markets Act (DMA), security fixes, and a new Weather widget in the Lock Screen.
  • Windows 10 versions 1809, 1607, and 1507 also receive updates as part of the February release.

Microsoft begins the rollout of the update KB5034763 for Windows 10 22H2 and version 21H2 on February 13, 2024. This particular Patch Tuesday update introduces various security fixes and continues the deployment of Copilot for Windows 10.

According to the announcement from the official website, the update KB5034763 bumps the version number to build 19044.4046 (21H2) and 19045.4046 (22H2) and addresses problems with the Explorer.exe process, download of device metadata, Certificate Authority snap-in, and fixes error 0xd0000034 during the upgrade to Windows 11.

The company notes that this update continues the rollout for fixes and improvements previously available with the preview update KB5034203, released on February 12, 2024, which includes the addition of new Weather widgets in the Lock Screen, the option to back up the Eye control settings, and fixes issue with some single-function printers.

Also, this release includes the changes to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the European Union (EU), which includes the ability to uninstall Microsoft Edge and system apps and the option to disable Bing from Windows Search.

In addition, the company is making available updates for older versions of the operating system, including versions 1809, 1607, and 1507.

Older versions of Windows 10

The software giant is also rolling out the update KB5034768 for version 1809, bumping the build number to 17763.5458 and fixing a number of problems for devices still running this version of the operating system.

Windows 10 1607 received the update KB5034767 that bumps the version to build 14393.6709, and it resolves a couple of problems with this version. Finally, Windows 10 1507 is getting the update KB5034774, which increases the version to build 10240.20469 and introduces some miscellaneous security fixes.

The update is available immediately and will be downloaded and installed automatically through the Stable Channel. However, you can always force the update from Settings Update & Security > Windows Update, click the “Check for updates” button, and use the option to install the optional update.

Microsoft is also releasing the update KB5034765 for Windows 11 as part of the February update.
