How to fix error code 0x426-0x0 on Microsoft 365 (Office) apps for Windows 11, 10

On Windows 11 (or 10), you can fix the error code 0x426-0x0 for Microsoft 365 (Office) apps using the repair options available with the Microsoft 365 installer, and in this guide, I’ll outline the steps to complete this process.

Sooner or later, you may try to open Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or any of the Microsoft 365 apps, but only to find that they won’t open, resulting in the error code 0x426-0x0 with the “Something went wrong” message.

It’s a frustrating error, and it typically indicates a problem with the installation files or configuration of your apps. Since there are a lot of different reasons for this issue, the easiest way to resolve the problem is to use the repair tool available with the app installer. You could also uninstall and reinstall the apps, but that option could take longer.

In this guide, I’ll explain the steps to resolve the issue preventing Word, Excel, and other apps from launching on Windows 11 (or 10).

Fix Error Code 0x426-0x0 on Microsoft 365 (Office) apps

To resolve the 0x426-0x0 error for the Microsoft 365 apps, follow the steps:

  1. Open Settings on Windows 11.

  2. Click on Apps.

  3. Click the Installed apps page.

  4. Click the menu (three dots) and choose the Modify option.

  6. Click the Repair button.

Once you complete the steps, the feature will repair common problems with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other apps, causing the error code 0x426-0x0.
