Build 26200.5742 (KB5064075) for Windows 11 25H2 adds new Start menu visuals (Dev)

Windows 11 update KB5064075 delivers a redesigned Start menu sidebar and Control Panel settings ported to Settings app.

  • Windows 11 build 26200.5742 (KB5064075) arrives in the Dev Channel update for version 25H2 with a redesigned Start menu’s mobile sidebar and migrates more Control Panel settings into the Settings app.

  • You can also download Windows 11 build 26120.5742 in the Beta Channel, which includes (almost) the same changes as the Dev Channel.

Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 11 build 26200.5742 (KB5064075) in the Dev Channel as part of the version 25H2 development. The update is not significant, but it introduces a redesign for the mobile sidebar in the Start menu and ports more settings from the Control Panel to the Settings app.

According to the official notes, build 26200.5742 for Windows 11 25H2 rolls out a new layout design for the mobile companion sidebar in the Start menu.

In the Settings app, the company is porting more settings from Control Panel to the Settings app, including more time, language, and keyboard settings.

Also, in the Settings app, the KB5064075 release updates more dialogs to match the design of Windows 11.

Furthermore, this flight ships various fixes for File Explorer, Start menu, Task Manager, Settings, and others.

Microsoft is also making available for downloads build 26120.5742 (KB5064075) for Windows 11 24H2, which includes the same changes as build 26200.5742. The only difference is that this release doesn’t update the mobile sidebar in the Start menu.

These are the latest changes that Microsoft has been working on for Windows 11 25H2.

Start menu sidebar redesign

Although the Start menu sidebar to access your mobile phone features still remains familiar, the company is now adding the ability to scroll through more activities. In addition, this new layout will allow you access to messages, calls, photos, mobile app updates, and more from your iPhone or Android device.

Control Panel to Settings changes 

On Settings > Time & language > Date & time, this flight brings the following changes:

  • Option to add additional clocks from the “Show time and date in the system tray” setting.
  • Setting to change the time server under the “Additional settings” section. 
  • An option to access the date and time formatting is now available through the “Date & time” page, rather than from “Language & region.” The page also includes the option to change the AM and PM symbols.

On Settings > Time & language > Language & region, you can now find these improvements:

  • Option to change number and currency format under the “Region” section.
  • Option to enable Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support under the “Language” section.
  • Option to copy current user language and region settings to the welcome screen and system account, and new user accounts under the “Additional settings” section.

On Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard, Microsoft is adding:

  • Setting for character repeat delay and rate.

On Settings > Accessibility > Text cursor, you’ll find:

  • Setting to control the cursor blink rate.

In addition, as part of the Settings app changes, the company is updating more dialogs to match the design of Windows 11.

Other fixes and changes

In addition to the new features and improvements, Windows 11 build 26200.5742 also ships various fixes, including:

  • File Explorer: Resolved icon mirroring issues for right-to-left languages, tooltip persistence, tab duplication flash, desktop icon scaling overlap, Narrator announcement gaps, and improved performance for cloud file launch and context menus.
  • Start menu: Fixed excessive alphabetical categories with blank icons and corrected Visual Studio’s category placement.
  • Task Manager: Addressed freezing in the performance section, improved accessibility with better contrast, field sizing, and focus handling in dialogs.
  • Input: Fixed Input Method Editor (IME) issues causing dropped characters after copy-paste and restored functionality for older versions of Changjie, Bopomoji, and Japanese IMEs on touch keyboard.
  • Settings: Resolved crash when adding a security key under sign-in options.
  • Other: Fixed crashes related to dao360.dll and resolved SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION bugchecks affecting some Insiders

Finally, Microsoft is also noting various known issues with this release. For example, users may face rollback errors (0x80070005) during updates. Visual Studio can crash on Arm64 devices due to Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) issues. Click to Do may crash or fail to run text and image actions, with delays on AMD and Intel Copilot+ PCs.

Additionally, there are interface bugs, including a temporarily smaller Start menu layout, missing pinned apps in the Taskbar, and incorrect drive space colors in File Explorer dark mode. Live Captions may crash during Live Translation on Copilot+ PCs, and Xbox controllers via Bluetooth may trigger a Blue Screen of Death.

How to download Windows 11 build 26200.5742

To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your devices in the Dev Channel (for version 24H2, enroll in the Beta Channel) through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option and clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
