KB5072032 (build 28000.1340) for Windows 11 26H1 arrives with new features (Canary)

Microsoft pushes new features and changes in the Canary Channel, and here's all you need to know.

  • Windows 11 build 28000.1340 (KB5072032) rolls out in the Canary Channel.
  • This is a small preview with a small set of changes, and it enables some previously available features.

Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 28000.1340 (KB5072032) in the Canary Channel, which includes several new features already available in other channels, along with fixes. 

According to the official changelog, build 28000.1340 for Windows 11 introduces general improvements and fixes and enables additional features and capabilities released with the October 2025 update.

Additionally, this preview temporarily disables the Administrator Protection feature, and it fixes a problem that could make Storage Spaces inaccessible or Storage Spaces Direct fail on a storage cluster.

What’s new on Windows 11 build 28000.1340 

These are the most significant changes being rolled out in the latest preview of Windows 11 for the Canary Channel:

  • File Explorer’s “Recommended” section on the Home page is now available for local files.
  • The “Emoji and more” option to access the Emoji panel from the Taskbar is now available through the Taskbar settings page.
  • The “Advanced” settings page now includes the option to enable long paths that let you remove the MAX_PATH limitations.
  • The “Email and accounts” page has been renamed to “Your accounts,” and the page received some small improvements.
  • The keyboard shortcut for high contrast themes has been ported to the Settings app from the Control Panel.
  • The tailored experiences have been replaced with “Personalized offers” in the “Privacy & security” section of the Settings app.
  • The General page has been renamed to “Recommendations & offers” in the “Privacy & security” section of the Settings app, and the page also shows new icons and descriptions.
  • Voice Access is also gaining the “Wait time before acting” option, and the feature is now available for Japanese.

Other fixes and changes

The development team is also pushing several fixes and changes in the preview build that is available on the Canary Channel.

  • Storage Spaces: Fixed an issue that could make features inaccessible or cause Storage Spaces Direct to fail during storage cluster creation.
  • Administrator Protection: This feature has been temporarily disabled, but it’ll be re-enabled in future updates.

Microsoft has not noted any known issue with this particular build.

Preview build download

To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your devices in the Canary Channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option and clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
