Build 29634 for Windows 11 adds Voice Isolation, GIPHY GIFs, and a redesigned Start menu – Future Platforms

• Microsoft released Windows 11 build 29634 for Feature Platforms in the Experimental channel.
• This build introduces Voice Isolation, HID Braille display support, and a redesigned Start menu Account Control flyout.
• The emoji panel now uses GIPHY for GIF browsing instead of Tenor.

Microsoft is releasing Windows 11 build 29634 for the “Feature Platforms” version, delivering a small set of features, as well as incremental changes and fixes.

According to the official changelog, “Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (29634)” ships Voice Isolation for Voice Access, Narrator connects easily to Braille displays, and the Account Control menu gets an interface lift in the Start menu.

As part of build 29634, Microsoft is also rolling out improvements for Settings, Taskbar, Start menu, Date and Time, and graphics.

What’s new on Windows 11 build 29634 (Future Platforms)

These are the new features and improvements rolling out in the Future Platforms channel:

Account Control flyout design update

The Account Control flyout available through the Start menu is getting a refresh on Windows 11, with a more modern design and clearer account information.

The updated experience adds a visible subscription badge that makes it easier for users to quickly understand their current account state, view available benefits, storage information, and discover upgrade options.

The redesigned Account Control flyout is part of Microsoft’s broader effort to improve account-related experiences across Windows 11 by making important information easier to find without requiring users to navigate through multiple settings pages.

These visual changes will also arrive in the retail version with the release of the August 2026 Security Update.

Narrator with Braille display improvements

Microsoft is making braille displays easier to use by adding support for devices that follow the HID (Human Interface Device) standard.

Users can now connect compatible refreshable braille displays through USB and start using Narrator without installing additional drivers or completing extra setup steps.

For wireless use, HID-compatible braille displays can be paired through Settings > Bluetooth & devices, allowing users to work without being connected to a computer by cable.

Supported devices include Orbit Reader 20, Orbit Slate 340, Freedom Scientific Focus 40, and APH Mantis Q40. HID braille displays also now work during the initial Windows setup experience (OOBE) over USB, helping users who are deaf-blind configure a new device independently from the first screen.

Voice Isolation in Voice Access

Windows 11 is introducing a new “Voice Isolation” feature for Voice Access to improve speech recognition in noisy environments and shared spaces.

The feature uses on-device processing to focus on the user’s voice while filtering out nearby conversations and background noise. Microsoft says no voice data leaves the device.

Voice Access now includes three speech recognition modes under Voice Access settings > Improve speech recognition:

• Voice Isolation: Filters out background voices and noise with a one-time voice setup.
• Remove background noise only: Reduces non-speech sounds like typing or door slams without additional setup.
• No filtering: Uses the default microphone input with no extra processing.

To enable Voice Isolation, users must complete a short setup process by reading a brief paragraph aloud so the system can learn and recognize their voice.

Other changes

In addition, Windows 11 build 29634 in the Experimental channel for the Future Platforms channel comes with these improvements.

• Emoji panel: The emoji panel now uses GIPHY as the GIF provider, offering a smoother GIF browsing and sharing experience following the deprecation of the Tenor API.
• Settings: Improved the reliability of navigating to the Startup apps page in Settings.
• Taskbar: Improved the reliability of loading the system tray area when using the computer in tablet posture.
• Start menu: Improved the reliability of Start menu view preferences to ensure the selected view is retained, and enhanced keyboard navigation when focus is set to the apps list.
• Date and Time: Improved detection for triggering time zone change notifications.
• Graphics: Improved the reliability of rendering content while scrolling in certain apps across multiple monitors.

To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your devices in the Experimental experience through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program for the Future Platform version, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option and clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
