Microsoft today is making Office 2013 Service Pack 1 available for download and the company is also delivering the first service pack for SharePoint 2013 and Exchange 2013. The new update for the popular suite brings new functionalities, security, and stability updates for all the apps. Keep in mind that the Office 2013 SP1 download is for the single license product and not for the version installed via Office 365 subscriptions.
Office 2013 Service Pack 1 list of changes:
- Improved compatibility with Windows 8.1 and IE11.
- Improved compatibility for high-resolution displays and touchpads.
- New set of API for developers to build on Office 2013.
- Office 365 Pro Plus customers also get Excel Power Map, a 3D tool for mapping and interacting with geo and temporal data.
- Click-to-Run virtual technology to install and update Office 365 desktop apps also got a few improvements.
- SkyDrive Pro now has been renamed to “OneDrive for Business”.
As with every service pack, this new update brings every update released since the release of Office 2013. So installing the Service Pack 1 will automatically update the Office family to the latest version.
There is also an Office 2013 RT SP1 for Windows RT that users will be getting immediately via Windows Update — the company isn’t providing a web page to download the bits manually.
