Windows 10 Mobile February 2016 firmware rolls out to Lumia 950, 950 XL

February 2016 firmware update rolls out for the Lumia duo with fixes and improvements.

Microsoft announces the availability of new firmware updates for devices running Windows 10 Mobile, including the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. The February 2016 firmware update version number is 1078.38.16025, and users with phones enrolled in the Insider program must switch to the Production ring on the Insider app to get the update.

The software giant also explains that those devices not in the Production ring will eventually get the new firmware when it releases in early March.

The new firmware update brings three important changes:

  • Stability fixes
  • Improvements for GPS reliability
  • Improvements for call audio quality

The new firmware isn’t available for every variant of the phones. You can check if your phone is compatible with the new firmware here.

The LG Lancet (VW820) on Verizon and the Lumia 830 available on AT&T will also be receiving the new firmware update. The update will be listed with the following version numbers:

  • LG Lancet [820.10300.11.101]
  • Lumia 830 [2179.0.15455.24047]

While the company keeps working to deliver firmware and Windows 10 Mobile updates together, unfortunately the new updates are only available for devices running Windows Phone 8.1. Mobile devices enrolled in the Insider program running the latest preview will have to roll back to Windows Phone 8.1 using the Windows Device Recovery Tool, install the new firmware, and upgrade once again to Windows 10 Mobile.
