Windows 10 build 14371 for PC releases with activation troubleshooter

Microsoft delivers another Windows 10 Anniversary Update (build 14371) with the Activation Troubleshooter to fix issues re-activating the Windows 10, plus a lot of bug fixes and improvements.

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is fast approaching, but it’s not stopping Microsoft from releasing a new update through the Fast ring. On June 22nd, the company releases Windows 10 build 14371 for PC.

In the new preview, the software giant is addressing a lot of bug fixes and introducing several improvements. Also, perhaps the most noticeable change is the inclusion of the “Activation Troubleshooter”. The new tool is meant to resolve any issue activating a copy Windows 10.

Activation Troubleshooter to re-activate Windows 10

Starting with Windows 10 build 14371, the Activation Troubleshooter will help PC users to re-activate the operating system after significant hardware changes. For example, replacing a hard drive or motherboard.

In addition, the tool will guide users who accidentally installed the wrong version of Windows 10 to properly move to the correct version associated with their digital license (formerly known as “digital entitlement”).

The new tool is located on Settings > Update & security > Activation, and clicking Troubleshoot.

On this flight and moving forward there is also the ability to link your Microsoft account to your activation digital license. If you’re already running an activated version of Windows 10, your Microsoft account will link automatically with your product key.

Once your account is linked, you’ll be able to re-activate Windows 10 using the Activation Troubleshooter.

Improvements and fixes for build 14371

The pre-release of Windows 10 also delivers a lot fixes and improvements getting the operating system ready for the masses.

On Microsoft Edge, now clicking the download link that quickly opens and closes a tab will open the Download Hub. Other improvements are happening on the Favorites bar, and websites should now load correctly when typing an URL on the address bar.

There are some minor UI fixes on Windows Defender, OneNote, Action Center, Settings app, Clock and Calendar where elements were not shown correctly.

Windows 10 build 14371 fixes crash issues with the Calculator app. Addresses problems with the VPN settings page freezing after pressing Connect, and where you might see duplicate “The VPN connection needs your sign-in info.”

The Start menu doesn’t receive any new features, but the update fixes an issue that caused type to search no to work.

Known issues for build 14371

This flight only includes one issue. When clicking on networks or VPN connections in the network flyout on the taskbar won’t open the network settings page.

Windows 10 build 14371 is available immediately through the Fast ring of updates. It’ll download and install automatically on your PC, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button. It’s important to note that it will take some time for mobile users to see the new update.
