Windows 11 build 27913

Build 27913 for Windows 11 releases with Settings app changes (Canary)

Microsoft pushes another small update in the Canary Channel for Windows 11 without new features, only fixes and tiny changes.

  • Windows 11 build 27913 (Canary) adds an updated Settings app with the search box relocated to the top center.
  • It fixes multiple bugs, including the Windows Vista startup sound bug, disappearing desktop wallpaper, settings crashes, audio issues, and BSOD errors.

Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 11 build 27913 in the Canary Channel of the Windows Insider Program with visual changes for the Settings app, general undisclosed improvements, and bug fixes. The features and changes available in this channel are not tied to any particular release of Windows 11.

According to the official changes, build 27913 for Windows 11 rolls out an updated version of the Settings app that relocates the search box from the left pane to the top center of the app.

In addition to general improvements that the company isn’t detailing, this update fixes the bug that brings back the Windows Vista startup sound.

It also resolves an issue where the desktop background would lose the wallpaper and display a black screen.

Microsoft is also fixing crashes with the Settings app when accessing the “Power & Battery” settings and rendering issues across text in the app and related dialogs.

Furthermore, this flight fixes audio problems, Blue Screen of Death with the “KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE” error, unexpected transparency on apps that use the acrylic effect, and problems with the Group Policy Editor.

As part of the known issues, for Copilot+ PCs, upgrading to building from other channels causes the error 0xd0000225 when using Windows Hello, and the progress wheel may appear as a rectangle glyph.

Other than these fixes, this flight doesn’t include any new features. If you want access to new features and other visual changes, you’ll have to install the preview builds in the Dev or Beta Channel.
