  • Windows 11 build 27924 (Canary Channel) brings AI-powered features like Windows Recall, Click to Do, an AI agent in Settings, AI-enhanced Search, Live Captions, and a redesigned Advanced page in Settings, replacing “For Developers.”
  • It also includes input improvements, MIDI Services enhancements, and various reliability fixes.

Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 11 build 27924 in the Canary Channel of the Windows Insider Program with a lot of new AI features for Copilot+ PCs, as well as changes for the Settings app, and new MIDI Services. However, these aren’t exactly new features. The company is only porting the improvements already available in the other channels to the Canary Channel.

According to the official announcement, build 27924 introduces Windows Recall, Click to Do, an AI agent for the Settings app, and AI integrations for Windows Search and Live Captions.

In addition, the Settings app is getting a new “Advanced” settings page that replaces the “For developers” page, and there are changes for input and the Windows MIDI Services, as well as fixes.

What’s new on Windows 11 build 27924

These are the latest changes that Microsoft is bringing to the Canary Channel for Windows 11.

AI features for Copilot+ PCs

Although the Canary Channel is supposed to be the place for the latest innovations coming to the operating system, currently, it’s no longer the case.

After being available in the different channels for some time, the company is now bringing the Windows Recall feature to take screenshots of everything you do on your computer to help you retrace your steps.

Click to Do is also arriving with build 27924, which is a feature that allows taking actions based on the content on the screen using AI.

Microsoft is also porting the AI agent into the Settings app to help you find and change settings more easily using natural language. In addition, with your permission, the agent can make system changes on your behalf.

This flight also adds AI to Windows Search that works alongside the traditional search, so you can search and find content more easily using natural language without having to remember the file name, content inside the file, or metadata information.

Furthermore, Windows 11 build 27924 also brings Live Captions with real-time translation of any live or pre-recorded video in any app or video platform from over 40 languages into English.

Settings app with new Advanced page

In the Settings app, this update introduces a new “Advanced” settings page that replaces the “For Developers” page.

The page includes a new design that groups settings in different categories, and it adds some new features:

  • Enable Long Paths: Removes file path length (MAX_PATH) limitations.
  • Virtual Workspaces: Easily toggle features like Hyper-V and Windows Sandbox.
  • Git integration in File Explorer: Displays version control details, branch status, and commit history directly in Explorer.

I have also published another article and a hands-on video that explores these new settings coming to Windows 11 in more detail.

Other changes and fixes

In addition to the AI features and new Advanced page in the Settings app, this flight ships with several changes and fixes.

For example, the pointer indicator is now a little more transparent, and the company is temporarily changing its shortcut from “CTRL + Windows key + X” to “CTRL + Windows key + ALT + X” to help reduce accidental actions.

As part of the Windows MIDI Services changes, apps can now wait for MIDI messages to be fully sent before function calls return. This change is feedback-driven and improves reliability for time-sensitive MIDI workflows.

In addition, there are a few fixes for the progress wheel, widgets disappearing, Remote Desktop monitor support, and webauth.dll crash.

Finally, the company is noting several known issues with Click to Do and Copilot+ PCs.

Windows 11 build 27924 installation

To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your devices in the Canary Channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option and clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
