How to change sleep power settings on Windows 10

Do you need to save energy on your laptop or customize the power settings on your desktop? Here's a quick way to do this on Windows 10.

  • On Windows 10 the “Power & Sleep” settings page is located on Settings > System.
  • To prevent the PC from going to sleep: Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep, and set the “Sleep” option to Never.
  • To prevent the screen from turning off: Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep, and set the “Screen” option to Never.

Whether you use a laptop or desktop computer, Windows 10 includes power settings that allow you to specify precisely when to turn off the display or send the device to sleep to save energy.

Although these settings would usually apply to laptops, tablets, and 2-in-1 devices, the ability to adjust the power settings can also come in handy on desktop computers to prevent the screen from going off automatically or enter into a low-power state after stepping out of the office for several minutes.

In this guide, you will learn the steps to change the basic power settings on Windows 10.
