How to change startup page settings on Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge Chromium lets you set the startup page to a new tab, last session of tabs, or specific group of pages – Here's how to change these settings.

On Windows 10, the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge comes with settings that allows you to decide the startup behavior.

Although starting with a new tab is the default configuration (and it’ll be suited for most people), you can also change the settings to instruct the Chromium Edge to save your current session allowing you to resume where you left off. Or if you work with the same websites every day, you can specify the pages that the browser should load on startup.

In this guide, you’ll learn the steps to change the startup behavior of the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge on Windows 10.

How to open new tab on startup with Microsoft Edge

To start Microsoft Edge on a new tab, use these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click the Settings and More (three-dotted) button on the top-right corner.

  3. Click on Settings.

  4. Click the On Startup page.

  5. Select the Open a new tab option.

Once you complete the steps, Microsoft Edge will always open on a new tab during startup.

How to pick up where you left off on startup with Microsoft Edge

To open the last session tabs with Microsoft Edge, use these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click the Settings and More (three-dotted) button on the top-right corner.

  3. Click on Settings.

  4. Click the On Startup page.

  5. Select the Continue where you left off option.

After you complete the steps, when launching Microsoft Edge, the last session tabs will open to continue where left off.

How to open specific page on startup with  Microsoft Edge

To open one or multiple pages on startup with Chromium Edge, use these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click the Settings and More (three-dotted) button on the top-right corner.

  3. Click on Settings.

  4. Click the On Startup page.

  5. Select the Open a specific page or pages option.

  6. Click the Add a new page button.

  7. Specify the link for the website you want to open on startup.

  8. Click the Add button.

  9. (Optional) Click the Add a new page button again to add multiple pages on startup.

  10. (Optional) Click the Use all open tabs button to configure all current open tabs as pages you want to open on startup.

  11. (Optional) Click the menu (three-dotted) button on the right side and select the Edit or Delete option to modify or remove the page.

Once you complete the steps, Microsoft Edge will always open the pages you specified on startup.
