- To enable the new Adaptive Energy Saver on Windows 11, use ViveTool to turn on feature ID

from the Dev or Beta Channel, and then go to Settings > Power & battery > Energy Saver, and select the “Adaptive” option. - This feature allows the system to automatically manage power based on battery, temperature, and workload, but is only available on laptops or battery-connected devices.
On Windows 11, Microsoft is working on a new “Adaptive” Energy Saver mode, which is part of the latest preview builds in the Dev (build 26200.5651) and Beta (build 26120.4441) Channels. In this guide, I’ll explain the steps to enable the feature on your setup.
The feature is still under development. The idea is for the system to monitor key system telemetry (battery charge, temperature, load, etc.) and then automatically toggle the “Energy Saver” mode based on conditions it deems optimal instead of turning “Always use energy saver” on or off manually.
As a result of this change, the “Energy Saver” feature removes the “Turn energy saver on automatically when battery is at” option from the “Power & battery” settings. However, it’s important to note that this feature only appears on laptops or computers connected to an external battery, and it’s not available for devices without a battery.
Although the feature is still under development, you can manually enable it using the ViveTool, a command-line utility that unlocks hidden features in Windows Insider builds.
In this guide, I’ll outline the steps to enable the adaptive power feature on Windows 11.
Enable the Adaptive Energy Saver feature on Windows 11
Currently, using the Adaptive option is a two-step process on Windows 11. You first have to enable the feature in the operating system, and then you have to select the option to turn it on.

Restart the computer.
Once you complete the steps, the adaptive option will appear in the “Energy Saver” feature.
If you want to undo the changes, you can follow the same instructions outlined above, but in step 10, run the vivetool /disable /id:56401475
command.
Step 2: Turn on the Adaptive feature using Settings
To turn on the Adaptive Energy Saver feature to improve battery life, follow these steps:
-
Open Settings.
-
Click on Power & battery.
-
Click the Energy Saver setting.
-
Select the Adaptive option in the “Always use energy saver” setting.
After you complete the steps, the system will be able to turn Energy Saver on or off, depending on remaining battery and how you’re using the device.
