How to enable text cursor indicator on Windows

Windows includes an indicator to quickly spot the text cursor in large text files, and here's how to set up the feature.

  • To enable the text cursor indicator on Windows 11, open Settings > Accessibility> Text cursor, and turn on the “Text cursor indicator.”
  • On Windows 10, the feature is located on Settings > Ease of access > Text cursor.

On Windows 11 (and 10), you can enable the indicator to make your text cursor stand out within a pile of text, and in this guide, I will explain the steps to configure this feature.

The text cursor indicator is a feature that first appeared on Windows 10, and it continues to be available on Windows 11. It adds some visual elements to make it easier to find the cursor on the screen, with the option to change the size and color. 

In this guide, I will teach you the steps to enable and configure the size and color of the text cursor indicator available on Windows 10 and 11.

Enable text cursor indicator on Windows 11

To enable and customize the text cursor indicator on Windows 11, use these steps:

  1. Open Settings on Windows 11.

  2. Click on Accessibility.

  3. Click the Text cursor page.

  4. Turn on the “Text cursor indicator” toggle switch to enable the feature.

  5. Choose the size of the text cursor with the slider setting.

  6. Select one of the available color schemes for the cursor indicator.

  7. (Optional) Click the “Choose another color” button to create a custom color.

Once you complete the steps, the text cursor indicator will enable and be available on any input interface.

To enable and customize the text cursor indicator on Windows 10, use these steps:

  1. Open Settings on Windows 10.

  2. Click on Ease of Access.

  3. Click on Text cursor.

  4. Turn on the “text cursor indicator” toggle switch to enable the feature.

  6. Select one of the suggested colors for the indicator.

  7. (Optional) Click the “Pick a custom text cursor indicator color” button to create a custom color.
