Microsoft has released Gestures Beta, a new app for Windows Phone handsets that allows users to gain more control over the device without having to touch the screen. Although, the company has been releasing all its apps across platforms including iOS, Android, and Amazon Fire OS, Gestures is exclusive to Lumia phones.
The new Gestures app is in beta, which means it is still a work in progress, nevertheless now Lumia Windows Phone owners can do the following:
- Answer a call by picking up your phone and putting it to you ear
- Mute your mic during a call by placing the phone on a flat surface with the display facing down
- Put the call on speaker by placing the phone on a flat surface with the display facing up
- Silence the incoming call ringer by flipping device display down.
Even though, these functionality are not new technology, because we’ve seen already such features back in Windows Mobile and on Android phones, they are welcome additions to the Lumia range of handsets. However, the application is good as the hardware in the device, as such Gestures will work on all Lumia Windows Phones, except for the Lumia 530, 630, and 635.
