The update KB5052078 (build 22635.4945) for Windows 11 is now rolling out in the Beta Channel of the Windows Insider Program. This update only includes improvements and fixes for the 23H2 development.

According to the company, update KB5052078 for Windows 11 includes a new Drag Tray flyout to make it easier to share files and roll out interface changes for the All menu in the Start menu.

As part of the fixes for File Explorer, the development team made to match the text scaling settings available through the “Text Size” page for the File Open, Save, and Wizard dialogs.

In addition, there are a few fixes for the Taskbar app window preview and Settings app for Japanese users.

These are the changes rolling out in the latest preview of Windows 11 in the Beta Channels.

Drag Tray flyout for file sharing

The Drag Tray is a new flyout that appears at the top edge of the screen. It offers different options for sharing a file with different apps, or you can drop the file in the “More options” to open the “Share” interface.

It’s only for individual files. You cannot share a collection of files, a folder, or a container like “.zip” files.

Microsoft is also making available visual changes to the “All” menu in the Start menu with grids that rearrange apps in different categories.

Once you enable the feature and restart the computer, the next time you open the “All” menu, you will find a drop-down menu with different options, including “Category,” “Name grid,” and “Name list.”

File Explorer new improvements

As part of the Windows 11 update KB5052078, File Explorer improves the text scaling support for File Open and Save dialogs and Wizard dialogs when changing the settings from Settings > Accessibility > Text size.

Microsoft is also pointing out known issues for File Explorer, the Settings app, and the Start menu.

Installation process

To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your device in the Beta Channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program and click the “Check for Updates” button.

Microsoft recently announced that devices in the Dev and Beta Channels are now receiving the same previews from version 24H2 development but as an optional install for those devices in the Beta Channel. However, this preview is available on the Beta Channel for users still in version 23H2. If you want to stay in the version 23H2 development, don’t turn on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option.

In the Beta Channel, for devices already updated to version 24H2 development, Microsoft has also rolled out Windows 11 build 26120.3291 (KB5052080).
