Microsoft is now rolling out the Windows 11 build 22635.5090 (KB5053649) to the Beta Channel, introducing enhancements to Voice Access and addressing issues with the Start menu, Windows Update, and Lock Screen.

These are the changes rolling out in the latest preview of Windows 11 in the Beta Channels.
Voice Access enhancements
Microsoft is bringing Voice Access support to Simplified Chinese (zh-cn) and Traditional Chinese (zh-tw), expanding its accessibility to a broader user base.
Unannounced features
This preview includes features not explicitly mentioned in Microsoft’s release notes. For example, right-clicking an item pinned to the Start menu now offers options to move it left or right, enhancing customization.
Furthermore, the “About” page in the Settings app, under “Device specifications,” now includes a “Frequently Asked Questions” section (via @PhantomOfEarth), providing users with additional information about their operating system and hardware.
The update to the “About” page is hidden by default but can be enabled manually using the ViveTool. To activate it, run the command vivetool /enable /id:55305888.
Fixes in build 22635.5090 (KB5053649)
The update addresses several issues:
- Resolved an issue that incorrectly separated “Windows Tools” apps into folders inside the Start menu.
- Addressed a bug with the Windows Update settings where installed quality updates were not consistently appearing on the “Update History” page.
- Fixed a crash that occurred on the login screen when selecting the “sign-in options” option in the Lock Screen.
Known issues
Also, this build comes only with one known issue regarding the Start menu. You’re advised to review the release notes for detailed information on these issues.
Installation process
To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your device in the Beta Channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option and clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
Microsoft has announced that computers in the Dev and Beta Channels are now receiving the same previews (KB5053650) from version 24H2 development but as an optional install for those devices in the Beta Channel. However, this preview (build 22635.5090) belongs to the version 23H2 development.
