  • Windows 11 build 28020.1371 (KB5073097) rolls out in the Canary Channel.
  • This update includes fixes and improvements. It doesn’t introduce new features.

Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 28020.1371 (KB5073097) in the Windows Insider Program for devices enrolled in the Canary Channel with several fixes, improvements, and known issues as part of the version 26H1 development.

According to the official changelog, “Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (28020.1371)” addresses the issue with pinned folders in the Start menu. In File Explorer, the company is rolling out a patch to address the white splash bug in dark mode.

Additionally, this preview pushes other fixes for keyboard character repeat, Windows Terminal, and Windows Share dialog.

What’s new on Windows 11 build 28020.1371

These are the most significant changes being rolled out in the latest preview of Windows 11 for the Canary Channel:

  • Start menu: Fixed an issue where selecting an item inside a pinned‑item folder could cause the entire folder to disappear from Start.
  • File Explorer: Resolved an issue that caused a white flash when navigating between pages.
  • Input: Fixed an issue where the keyboard character repeat delay in Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Keyboard was reversed compared to the backend configuration.
  • Other: Resolved an underlying issue that could freeze the computer when attempting to run Windows Terminal elevated from a non‑admin account, and resolved a problem where the Share dialog might incorrectly show an option to share to Shell Experience Host.

Microsoft is also noting a known issue in which the desktop watermark displays the wrong build number.

It is important to clarify that Windows 11 26H1 is not a feature update for existing devices. Microsoft has explicitly confirmed that 26H1 is not an upgrade path for computers running Windows 11 25H2 or any earlier release.

This release is designed exclusively for new ARM64 hardware and will ship only on next-generation PCs, starting with devices powered by Snapdragon X2 Plus, Elite, and Extreme processors. Systems based on Intel or AMD platforms will never receive Windows 11 26H1 through Windows Update or any other supported upgrade channel.
