Microsoft is now releasing the Out-of-band (OOB) update KB5086672 as builds 26200.8117 and 26100.8117 for Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2 to address installation issues during the April 2026 update.
On March 31, 2026, the company began rolling out a patch to fix a problem during installation of the non-security update, which includes the changes expected to be available during the April 2026 Patch Tuesday Update.
According to the company, Windows 11 builds 26200.8117 and 26100.8117 fix the some update files are missing or have problems. We’ll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)

Windows 11 25H2 update KB5086672

This out-of-band update includes all fixes and improvements from KB5079473 (released March 10, 2026), KB5085516 (released March 21, 2026), and KB5079391 is no longer offered.
Out-of-band (OOB) updates explained
Out-of-band updates are emergency patches released outside the regular monthly schedule. Microsoft issues them to address urgent problems (such as newly discovered security flaws or critical bugs) that can’t wait for the next Patch Tuesday.
These updates are cumulative, meaning they include all previous fixes (security and non-security) plus the new targeted resolution.
