Microsoft is reportedly working on a new Surface Go 4 with an ARM processor and a new Surface Pro with a smaller 11-inch screen. According to a new report from Windows Central, the new Surface Pro and Surface Go 4 will show some design changes, and even though they’re expected to ship in the fall, the company may push the release to next year.
Surface Pro (11-inch)
According to the report, Microsoft is working on offering two sizes for the new Surface Pro the traditional 13-inch and a new 11-inch model. The 11-inch model is internally known as “Luxor,” and it’s expected to ship with a shape similar to the new Surface Go 4. However, while maintaining a lower entry price point, the device will have some distinctive design changes, such as slimmer bezels, a 120Hz display, and more capable hardware.
Surface Go 4 (ARM)
The Surface Go 4 is internally known as “Tanta,” and it will feature the Snapdragon 7c-based SoC from Qualcomm for the entry-level mode. The performance is expected to be in part with the current model, but the new device will have a longer-lasting battery life.
The report points out that the new Surface will include some design changes, but nothing significant as it’ll retain a size similar to the current model. However, the Qualcomm process is expected to allow the company to include 5G connectivity, but it will only be available for some of the device variants.
Although Surface Go 4 will feature a Qualcomm SoC, Microsoft is expected to keep offering a variant with an Intel processor.
Recently, it has also been reported that Microsoft is working with Qualcomm, Intel, and AMD to bring its Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to all its Surface devices to improve the AI and ML capabilities. However, it’s unclear if the NPU integration will be part of these two new devices.
Furthermore, there is still no set schedule for the release of these new Surfaces. The report suggests that Microsoft plans to bring them to market during the fall, but the launch could be pushed until some time in 2024 to align with the release of Windows 12.
