- You can upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 25H2 using thre methods: Windows Update, Installation Assistant, or the ISO file.
- The easiest upgrade method is using the Windows Update option that now install version 25H2 directly.
UPDATED 10/20/2025: On Windows 10, as support is coming to an end on October 14, 2025, you can upgrade to Windows 11 25H2 (2025 Update) starting September 30, 2025. You can also use the ISO file, Windows Update, and Installation Assistant tools to perform the in-place upgrade. The only requirement is that the hardware must be compatible to continue with the newer version of the operating system.
The recommened method is to use the “Windows Update” settings since the option only appears if you have a computer that meets the requirements. In the early days of the rollout, the upgrade required upgrading to version 24H2 first, and then installing the enablement package to switch to version 25H2. However, starting October 16, 2025, you can now upgrade to the latest version directly.
Other options include using the “Installation Assistant” tool to perform an in-place upgrade or downloading the ISO file to upgrade using a USB flash drive. You can also upgrade the system using a clean installation of the operating system.
It’s important to note that this process will perform a complete reinstallation of the operating system, which can cause issues during and after the installation. In my experience, a clean installation is the better approach. It takes more time, but you will likely experience less frustration.
