How to view WiFi or Ethernet status and properties on Windows 11

The Settings app on Windows 11 now shows network adapter real-time status and properties information, and here's how to access the data.

Although you have been able to view the network adapter properties using the Settings app, on Windows 11, the network settings include a new section that allows you to view more information from the advanced settings page. For example, media state, bytes sent and received, link speed, and duration in real-time.

In addition, the properties settings let you have a full view of the TCP/IP address information, including DNS settings, IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, MAC address, manufacturer information, and driver version.

To view the WiFi or Ethernet adapter status and properties with the Windows 11 Settings, use these steps:

  1. Open Settings on Windows 11.

  2. Click on Network & internet.

  3. Click the Advanced network settings tab on the right side.

  4. Under the “Network adapters” section, click the WiFi or Ethernet adapter you want to view its information.

  5. View Windows 11 network adapter’s current status, including media state, bytes sent and received, link speed, and duration.

  6. Click the View additional properties option.

  7. View the full TCP/IP address information of the Windows 11 network adapter, including DNS settings, IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, MAC address, manufacturer information, and driver version.
