Windows 10 Avatars app now available for download from the Store (beta)

Avatars app for Windows 10

Microsoft is bringing the Avatars app from Xbox to Windows 10. Microsoft’s Major Nelson, Larry Hryb, revealed today that the company is bringing the Avatars app to the next version of the operating system.

The Avatars app is available for download now from the Store (beta) — just do a search in the Store for “Avatars” and you’ll find it.

The app is very simple and straightforward if you have previously created an Avatar in Xbox 360 or Xbox One. It even features the original background music, you first heard when customizing your avatar in Xbox 360.

As for features, Avatars includes all the tools to change the body aspects, such as shape, eye shadow, skin tone and much more. There is a new Photobooth section, but it’s still under development, and there is a wardrobe where you can customize all the avatar’s clothing and accessories.

Users will find access to the Avatars Store to purchase new gear, but the app currently access the store via Project Spartan browser. Perhaps future releases of the app will include the Avatar Store inside the app itself.

The app is available in 26 languages and you can, as a Windows Insider, download the Avatars app for Windows 10 from the Store (beta).
