As part of the active development branch, Microsoft has made available Windows 11 build 22463 in the Dev Channel. This is a small update that only includes some changes and improvements and no new features. (See also this hands-on video in the Pureinfotech YouTube channel highlighting the new changes.)
According to the company, build 22463 for Windows 11 includes the ability to use the Ctrl + Shift + C keyboard shortcut to copy the item path to the clipboard when selecting a file or folder.
The company has also updated the pop-ups when clicking “identify displays” in Display Settings to have rounded corners.
This flight also introduces a new icon next to the volume slider in Quick Settings to make the option more discoverable.
The Windows Easy of Access folder has been renamed to Accessibility in the All apps list for the Start menu.
Also, there’s a new option for Focus Assist, allowing you to choose whether the feature will enable automatically for the first hour after a Windows feature update. And the contrast theme colors based has been tweaked, and the links are now more distinct on hover when using the desert theme.
As part of the fixes, build 22463 addresses various problems with the Start menu. The Taskbar will now appear properly aligned and fixes several other issues. The Windows Subsystem for Linux will now work on ARM64-based computers, such as on Surface Pro X. And there are many other fixes for Search, File Explorer, Settings, Window Sandbox, Notification Center and Quick Settings, input, and windowing.
In addition, the company is also warning a bunch of known issues with build 22463 regarding the Start menu, Taskbar, File Explorer, and Widgets.
Alongside the new changes and improvements for Windows 11 build 22463, Microsoft says that some of the fixes may become available for the final version of Windows 11 after it’s released on October 5.
Install Windows 11 build 22463
If you want to download and install the Windows 11 build 22463, you need to enroll your device in the Dev Channel using the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section.
Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download build 22463 from the “Windows Update” settings by clicking the Check for Updates button. However, you will need a device that meets the minimum system requirements to receive the update if you are new to the Windows Insider Program.
