This is a quality update that introduces a slew of fixes and improvements that Microsoft plans to make available during the next Patch Tuesday update expected to arrive the second Tuesday of November.

The KB4580364 update bumps the version number from build 19041.572 to build 19042.608, and according to the changelogs, the cumulative update brings the Meet Now in Skype to the taskbar, which is a feature allows you to quickly connect with other people using video or voice, and the call can last up to 24 hours without having to sign up or download additional components.

Also, build 19042.608 fixes an issue that shows the wrong frequency for some processors, incorrect credential prompt for virtual private network (VPN) connections, and problems starting Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL2) on ARM64 devices. In addition, the update addresses performance issue that occurs when PowerShell reads the registry to check, device stop responding after you have been using a pen for several hours, searching in File Explorer for Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) users, and nothing on the screen for five minutes or more during the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) session.

As for new improvements, after installing the KB4580364 update, when using the DiskPart utility, you’ll be able to view recovery partitions. Microsoft has added support for the Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.1 and 1.2 protocols when connecting to SQL Server using the data providers in Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC). And the company is also introducing the new Microsoft Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) provider named “Microsoft-Antimalware-UacScan”. This ETW provider reports the details of the context for each User Account Control (UAC) request in the ETW provider manifest.
