  • Microsoft rolls out the Windows 11 build 26120.1340 in the Dev Channel.
  • The update finally adds the option to change the mouse scrolling directions from the Settings app.
  • It also improves the energy settings and the Voice Access feature.
  • In addition, Windows 11 build 22635.4005 recently rolled out in the Beta Channel, but it doesn’t include many changes.

Microsoft is in the process of rolling out the Windows 11 build 26120.1340 as the update KB5040557 in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program with several new improvements and settings.

According to the official notes published on August 5, 2024, build 26120.1340 is being offered as a checkpoint cumulative update, which makes updates smaller and faster through incremental differentials, saving time, bandwidth, and space.

As part of the new improvements, the update KB5040557 rolls out new mouse settings, including the “Enhance pointer precision” that was previously only available through the Control Panel and the ability to change the mouse scrolling direction directly from the Settings app without having to change the Registry.

While these new mouse settings are new in the Dev Channel, Microsoft has already integrated these features in the Canary Channel.

In addition, the system will now produce a notification to connect the laptop to a power source when the battery drops below 20 percent if the Energy Saver feature is set to “Always On.” Also, on “Energy recommendations,” the page will now suggest disabling the HDR to save energy.

Microsoft is also updating Voice Access to use the spelling and correction features during the entire session.

This flight also fixes problems with the Settings app, and the company warns of some known issues with Sandbox, Task Manager, and input. It’s important to note that previews in the Dev Channel are now based on Windows 11 24H2, which is expected to start gradually rolling out in September or October.

It’s important to note that previews in the Dev Channel are now based on Windows 11 23H2.
